Avi is a Director of Photography, born in Jerusalem, Israel.
Graduate of the Minshar school of art in Tel-Aviv and has been working for the past decade in the Israeli film and tv industry.

Growing up as an only child in the late 80’s, whose father worked as a tv producer, I regularly found myself in front of the screen, or just sitting on the carpet, playing “zoom in-zoom out” with the large video camera my dad brought home from work.

While I always flirted with the world of graphic design, I was more drawn to collaborate with people and to be on field. After watching thousends of films who made me laugh, thrilled, scared and cry I knew that learning the craft of filmmaking is the only way for me to fulfill my professional desires and self-expression.

During my film studies I shot several short films with my classmates. In 2012 our short film “Stocktaking” won third place and ‘best cinematography’ awards on the 48-hour film competition. The recognition for my work made me understand that I can truly fulfill myself in the role of the Cinematographer.

In the past few years, I collaborated with makers from different art fields and disciplines such as: video-dance, performance makers and art installations, which very much influenced my point of view and taste and came to be my favorite projects, alogside fiction and documentaries.
